WSLife.com Achieves No. 12 Ranking by DALBAR
For the second quarter of 2008, DALBAR ranked WSLife.com No. 12 among the top 25
Web-based technology firms within the insurance, annuity, and mutual funds
industry.
DALBAR develops standards for, and provides research,
ratings, and rankings of intangible factors to the mutual fund, broker/dealer,
discount brokerage, life insurance, and banking industries. A.M. Best Co. Affirms Western & Southern's A++ Rating
A.M.Best has again affirmed our A++ (Superior) rating—its highest rating—for all
Western & Southern life insurance companies, including The Western and
Southern Life Insurance Company, Western-Southern Life Assurance Company,
Columbus Life Insurance Company, Integrity Life Insurance Company, National
Integrity Life Insurance Company and The Lafayette Life Insurance Company.
According to A.M. Best, the rating reflects Western & Southern’s superior
risk-adjusted capitalization, conservative operating profile, diverse product
portfolio and distribution, and consistent pre-tax operating earnings growth.
Additionally, this rating recognizes the strong regional presence we have
built, particularly in the upper Midwest.
In addition to affirmation of our A++ rating, the A.M. Best Company recently featured The
Western and Southern Life Insurance Company in its publication, Best’s
Review, as one of only 15 life or health insurance companies in the country
to maintain an A.M. Best rating of A or higher for at least 75 years. Of these
15, only four — including Western & Southern Life — have a current A++
rating.

The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company was named one of Ward Group's 50 Top-Performing Insurance Companies in the
life-health category. This is our 16th time receiving this recognition in the 18 years Ward has conducted their
analysis.
Ward Group is an operational consulting firm and leading provider of insurance industry benchmarking and best
practices services. For performance rankings, Ward's 50 Top life-health insurance companies produced a 17.5 percent
return on average equity from 2003 to 2007, compared to 13.1 percent for the industry overall. Specifically, our
financial results were outstanding in the areas of safety, consistency, and performance.
Western & Southern Makes the Fortune 500 List Again
For the fifth consecutive year, Western & Southern Financial Group® (Western & Southern) is among the top 500
companies in the United States in 2008. The latest Fortune 500 listing by Fortune magazine places Western &
Southern at No. 480, with $4.81 billion in revenue for 2007.
Capital Analysts, Inc., Continues to Rank Among Top 50 Broker-Dealers
by Investment News
The Independent Broker/Dealer Survey in Investment News listed Capital Analysts,
Inc. (CAI), in the Top 50 broker-dealers in three categories. CAI was No. 45 among
advisors producing over $100,000. They ranked at No. 18 for fee revenue and No. 36 for gross revenue, based
on year-end 2007 figures. WSLife.com Ranked in Top 10 by Customer Respect Group
Western & Southern Agency Group’s Web site, WSLife.com, continues to place in the Top 10 of corporate Web sites in the life insurance industry by The Customer Respect Group (CRG). CRG’s "Customer Respect Index" ranks corporate Web sites based upon how well companies treated visitors to their Web sites.
In CRG’s 2007 third quarter survey, WSLife.com ranked in the Top 5 for all categories, which include Simplicity, Accessibility, Responsiveness, Principles, and Transparency. Of significant note, WSLife.com was rated No. 1 for Simplicity among the entire group of 52 insurance companies that were evaluated, which includes Life and Health, Property and Casualty, and Health Care.
